READ OUR LETTER:  PLEASE DONATE TOWARD OUR EXPOSURE PROGRAM!

For the last four years, Filipinas for Rights and Empowerment (FiRE NYC), a grassroots Filipino women’s organization that connects women’s issues in the Philippines to the Filipina diaspora in the NYC area, has conducted annual Exposure Trips  to various parts of the Philippines for its members. This program has been so meaningful to our organization as it gives them the opportunity to bridge the space between the Filipina community in New York City with migrant women workers, students, and professionals in the Philippines and abroad.

As our families, trusted friends, and colleagues, we want to let you know that FiRE has had a significant impact on our work in the local women’s movement, and our own personal growth.  We are participating in FiRE’s Exposure trip to the Philippines this summer. Our Exposure trip is a month-long program that will allow us to immerse with various communities in the Philippines like the urban poor, indigenous/National Minority population, youth and students, peasant farmers, and workers where women organize their communities. It is an opportunity to experience the living conditions and livelihood of these communities first-hand, an experience we never see as Filipinas living in the United States.

The main goals are to better understand how women and families survive under such conditions, and learn how they push their communities forward, despite such great hardship. We also look forward to returning to the New York City area as better-equipped organizers for the Filipino community throughout NYC.

If you can make a contribution to our Exposure trip, we, including the communities we serve will be extremely grateful!

So that you know what your contribution can achieve, here is a description of how various amounts that you may donate can support our Exposure team.  Click the highlighted amounts to make that donation.
