A Forum on the Case of Melissa Roxas and the Human Rights Situation in the Philippines
BAYAN USA, Kalusugan Coalition, and the National Lawyers Guild kindly invite you to meet Melissa Roxas, a Los Angeles-based community health worker who was the first Filipino-American U.S. citizen to fall victim to and survive enforced disappearance and torture by the Philippine military in 2009. The KATARUNGAN forum will explore the current state of human rights in the Philippines; whether Philippine President Benigno "NoyNoy" Aquino III’s administration improved the human rights situation in the Philippines; and Operation Plan Bayanihan, the government-led counter insurgency operations affecting the lives of the Filipino people.
