Hear the stories of a Philippine movement millions of women strong!
In 2009, seven U.S. based Filipina community organizers from Filipinas for Rights and Empowerment (FiRE) returned to the Philippines to learn more about their roles as active players in a transnational liberation movement. During these exposure trips hosted by GABRIELA-USA, participants were actively involved in Typhoon Ondoy Relief, the Liza Maza for Senator Campaign, the Triumph Factory Strike, GABRIELA Philippines’ 25th Anniversary; and getting to know various community organizations fighting against corruption, landlessness, and globalization. Each FiRE woman returned to the U.S. with inspiring stories of heartache and transformation. Hear about the work they did in different parts of the Luzon area, the challenges they faced as balikbayans, and the women of the National Democratic Movement in the Philippines that they will never forget.
