F*cked Up Film Series

Whether it is art holding up a mirror to life, or the other way around, there is no doubt that both are intimately connected. Songs, books, movies, television–in short, media–permeate every aspect of modern life and reflect the values of a society, or more dangerously, shape such values.

Filipinas for Rights and Empowerment (FiRE), in collaboration with the Young Educators for the Health and Empowerment of the Youth (YEHEY) of Philippine Forum, will explore how Filipinas are portrayed or depicted (in positive and negative lights) in popular media, and explore how these portrayals or depictions are created.

Now, more than ever, with the rapid evolution of information technology, we need to critically examine all that we see and hear. Join us for a night of film and discussion at the Fucked-Up Films Series.
